Learners took part in a lab experiment where they analyzed the light emissions of various ionic compounds. They prepared seven different ion solutions, soaked cotton balls in each, and then set them on fire. Before conducting the experiment, learners made predictions about the colors of the flames, and then recorded and analyzed the data.
