Today’s outdoor adventure started with a hunt for grubs 🐛 (baby bugs, thanks for the tip, Katie!), but when they proved tricky to find, we switched to digging for worms—adding about 25 new wriggly friends to our worm farm! We also got a little scientific, using magnets to collect roughly 20g of particulate iron from the soil. Science and nature, all in one afternoon! 🔬🌿

Our learners took advantage of the beautiful fall weather this afternoon by getting outside and lending a hand with some leaf raking! 🍁☀️

🎃 Camp Timber-lee generously donated 32 pumpkins for our learners to carve for the annual East Troy Pumpkin Walk this Saturday, October 25, from 5–9 PM.

Our learners are also experimenting with different pumpkin seed flavors — including chili pepper, garlic, cinnamon sugar, Lawry’s salt, and more — using the seeds from the pumpkins they carved.

Outdoor Education Week continues on! 🌳 The tree in this photo marks the spot for our first tree-identification trail sign—a majestic oak standing nearly 100 feet tall and likely over a century old! Learners are already brainstorming ways to calculate its exact height (hello, math and trigonometry in action!). Exciting things are happening outdoors at Norris! 🍂

Outdoor Education Week continues! It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning and teamwork as learners and staff worked together to clear trails on our beautiful campus.

The early bird gets the worm… or in Julian’s case, a BIG fish! Learners spent the morning fishing at the pond during their science lab. Check out the monster fish Julian caught!

It was extra cheesy in the halls today during our annual Grilled Cheese Competition! Learners and staff teamed up to battle it out for this year’s Grilled Cheese Champion title. 🧀🥪

It’s been an exciting week in the Norris School District with Gravity’s film crew on campus capturing our story and showcasing our learners’ educational journeys! The crew has been incredible—providing learners with hands-on experiences and a glimpse into their world. What an unforgettable experience for everyone involved! We will be anxiously awaiting the final product!

Day two of conquering fears and elevating education on the high ropes! 🙌 Learners built confidence while cheering each other on. We can’t wait to wrap up Adventure Education week with the “Leap of Faith” on Friday—stay tuned!

Learners explored the sweet science of cotton candy while making their own tasty treats! One learner summed it up best: “Making cotton candy is so easy—and so good!” We couldn't agree more!

At Norris, we take education to new heights every day—and today was no exception! As part of Adventure Education Week, our learners took on the high ropes course and conquered the Log Walk.

Who doesn’t love impromptu, learner-driven activities? 🚤 These creative learners decided to design a boat that could float—and mission accomplished! 🙌💡
