Outdoor Education Week continues on! 🌳 The tree in this photo marks the spot for our first tree-identification trail sign—a majestic oak standing nearly 100 feet tall and likely over a century old! Learners are already brainstorming ways to calculate its exact height (hello, math and trigonometry in action!). Exciting things are happening outdoors at Norris! 🍂

Outdoor Education Week continues! It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning and teamwork as learners and staff worked together to clear trails on our beautiful campus.

The early bird gets the worm… or in Julian’s case, a BIG fish! Learners spent the morning fishing at the pond during their science lab. Check out the monster fish Julian caught!

It was extra cheesy in the halls today during our annual Grilled Cheese Competition! Learners and staff teamed up to battle it out for this year’s Grilled Cheese Champion title. 🧀🥪

It’s been an exciting week in the Norris School District with Gravity’s film crew on campus capturing our story and showcasing our learners’ educational journeys! The crew has been incredible—providing learners with hands-on experiences and a glimpse into their world. What an unforgettable experience for everyone involved! We will be anxiously awaiting the final product!

Day two of conquering fears and elevating education on the high ropes! 🙌 Learners built confidence while cheering each other on. We can’t wait to wrap up Adventure Education week with the “Leap of Faith” on Friday—stay tuned!

Learners explored the sweet science of cotton candy while making their own tasty treats! One learner summed it up best: “Making cotton candy is so easy—and so good!” We couldn't agree more!

At Norris, we take education to new heights every day—and today was no exception! As part of Adventure Education Week, our learners took on the high ropes course and conquered the Log Walk.

Who doesn’t love impromptu, learner-driven activities? 🚤 These creative learners decided to design a boat that could float—and mission accomplished! 🙌💡

The hot topic in science is solar energy! Learners have been diving deeper by building their own solar ovens and experimenting with how different colors interact with the sun’s power.

Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend! Happy Friday!

Our design thinkers went full Shark Tank this week! 🦈 From an interactive alarm clock to a 3D-printed snake that “will cure everyone of their fears of snakes!” 🐍 (in multiple colors, according to inventor Andre), learners pitched their inventions to staff investors. Deals were made, and there were plenty of happy inventors! 💡✨

In Social Studies, learners explored Native American traditions through food! They made a venison stew with the Three Sisters—beans, corn, and squash—and smoked candied salmon, connecting with Indigenous practices pre-Columbus. 🌽🐟✨

Wow—what an amazing first week back to school! 🎉
Our learners, both on campus and at our learning hubs, hit the ground running with a variety of hands-on experiences—from team building and culinary arts to creative projects, apple picking, and so much more! 🍎✨
We’re thrilled to see their energy, talents, and interests shine as we kick off what’s sure to be an incredible year filled with opportunities for growth, exploration, and success. 💡🌟

It’s hard to believe school starts Tuesday! We can’t wait to see all our learners. After a summer of preparation, we’re ready to kick off the 2025–26 school year with exciting opportunities to explore our learners’ hobbies, talents, and interests.

Welcome Jack to our learning team!
